# Install on Linux AMD64

Install the x86_64 package on an Intel/AMD Linux machine.

## Check the package

Confirm `uname -m` reports `x86_64`. Download Linux AMD64, not ARM64, and verify its size and SHA-256. Follow the exact installation instructions accompanying that release; packaging formats and prerequisites are not interchangeable.

## Graphical first launch

Use a normal desktop user and a working display/OpenGL stack. Keep your projects separate from immutable application files. Check a small paused scene before running a complex project. Customer activation must use secure local storage and Workcell-managed authorization.

## Server installation

For a VPS, choose [headless automation](/docs/vps-headless/) for command-line jobs, or [remote desktop](/docs/vps-desktop/) for the full graphical workspace. Installing a package alone does not create a display server or qualify GPU rendering.
